Meet the Team

Troy Hildreth
President and Chief Executive Officer

In February 2019, Troy was named State President and CEO for WellCare of North Carolina, where he oversees strategic planning, regulatory compliance, network management, sales and marketing, medical management, financial stewardship, and administration excellence.

Previously, as Vice President of Business Development Strategy, Troy managed Medicaid growth and expansion, including development of growth and re-procurement related RFIs, RFAs, and RFPs, while supporting Medicare, Marketplace, and healthcare reform opportunities. Since joining WellCare in 2004 as Vice President of Marketing and Sales, he has led product development, marketing, branding, sales, and member retention.

Before WellCare, Troy held senior roles at Epix (now part of TriNet) and Deloitte and began his career as a business analyst for General Electric. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Indiana University and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.


Christian Miller
Chief Financial Officer

Christian Miller is the Chief Financial Officer for WellCare of North Carolina. He brings over 20 years of financial and operational leadership experience, having served in various strategic roles within Centene Corporation, including Chief Financial Officer for Buckeye Health Plan and Vice President of Finance.

Before Centene, Christian held multiple leadership positions at HealthNow New York, overseeing areas such as Federal Products, Pharmacy Services, Business Development, and Vendor Management. He has also worked in leadership roles with IPA/MSO startup organizations in Downstate New York and Florida.

Christian holds a Bachelor's and master’s degrees in mathematics from SUNY Potsdam, and he has furthered his education with programs at Harvard Business School and Washington University in St. Louis.


Dr. Eugenie (Genie) Komives
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Komives, a graduate of The University of Wisconsin and Harvard Medical School, completed her residency at Duke Family Medicine. She spent 11 years in clinical practice and held various leadership roles with Kaiser Permanente. From 2000 to 2012, she served as the State Health Plan medical director and senior medical director for Healthcare Quality with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where she developed clinical and reimbursement policies and quality incentive programs.

In 2012, she returned to clinical practice at Duke Primary Care Hillsborough and later became the senior medical director for Duke Population Health Management Office and Duke Connected Care. Since 2019, she has been the Chief Medical Officer for WellCare of North Carolina, overseeing their Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and Marketplace health insurance plans. Dr. Komives is also adjunct faculty at Duke University School of Medicine’s Department of Population Health Sciences.

In addition to her current roles, Dr. Komives co-chairs and teaches at the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation’s Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership. She is the vice president of the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians Foundation and has served on the Boards of Directors for the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence, North Carolina Prevention Partners, and the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.


Shari Riley
Vice President, Compliance

Shari L. Riley is the Vice President and Compliance Officer for WellCare of North Carolina since 2021, with over 25 years of progressive experience in the healthcare sector. Since joining Centene Corporation and WellCare Health Plans in 2013, she has held various leadership roles, including Director of Market Compliance for Missouri Care and Senior Director of Ethics & Compliance overseeing 18 Medicaid/Medicare states.

Shari holds a Juris Doctor and an Executive Master of Health Administration from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and a certificate in European Union Law. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Business Publishing WellCare Senior Leadership Program and the University of Missouri System President’s Administrative Leadership Development Program. Currently, Shari is a Clinical Instructor for the MU School of Health Sciences and a licensed attorney in Missouri.


Lindsey Hanson
Vice President, Operations

Lindsey Hanson is the Vice President of Operations for WellCare of North Carolina, overseeing areas such as Claims Operations, Provider Data Management, Vendor Management, Grievance and Appeals, and Business Systems Operations.

Since joining Centene Corporation in 2009, Lindsey has demonstrated forward-thinking leadership in roles such as Director of Claims and Contract Support Services for Buckeye Health Plan and Claims Manager at Sunshine State Health Plan. Her expertise includes new business implementation, claims operations, organizational development, and data analytics.

Lindsey has been instrumental in launching new health plans and business expansions, including Sunshine State's Long Term Care Implementation, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, and Buckeye's reprocurement. Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Health Care Administration from Park University.


Ajhezza (AJ) Martinez
Vice President, Network Development and Contracting

Ajhezza (AJ) Martinez is the Vice President of Network Development and Contracting for WellCare of North Carolina, overseeing contracting, provider relations, and provider data maintenance across all business lines. With extensive experience in network operations for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial sectors, AJ has held leadership roles such as Senior Vice President of Network Operations and played a key role in two start-ups in NJ/NY. Her primary goal is achieving 100% provider satisfaction and membership growth. In her spare time, AJ enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, reading mysteries, and spending time with her family.
