Important Update: Member ID Cards Coming Soon

Starting March 28, 2025, we will begin mailing new ID cards to:

  • New WellCare of North Carolina members
  • Members requesting replacement cards
  • Members with a Primary Care Provider (PCP) change

What is changing on Your ID Card?

To improve your experience and reduce confusion, we have updated how PCP information is shown on your ID card. Instead of listing a specific provider’s name, your card will now show you the name of your Advanced Medical Home (AMH) practice.

This means:

  • You are assigned to a AMH/PCP practice rather than an individual provider. If your provider’s business name is his/her name, that name will continue to be on your ID card.
  • You can see any provider within that practice for care
  • This change helps streamline access and avoid unnecessary updates when provider assignments shift.

Why This Change?

We made this update to reduce confusion for members and providers while making sure you get care from the full team at your assigned practice. If you need to confirm your specific provider or make changes, you can:

Your updated ID card will be automatically mailed if you are a new member, asked for a replacement or changed your PCP. Please review your card when you get it and always keep it with you.

We are here to help! If you have questions about your PCP assignment or need assistance, call us at 1-866-799-5318 (TTY: 711), Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
