Family Planning Services

Becoming a new parent can be tough. For many new mothers and fathers, it can be difficult to access the resources needed to ensure a healthy birth, baby care supplies and postpartum care for the new mother and baby. We get it, and we’re here to help.

Sunshine Health offers benefits and services to get you through the pregnancy (prenatal) and newborn (postpartum) phases.You can  visit our Start Smart For Your Baby ® website for more information and advice as you navigate your pregnancy and life with a new baby. 

Family Planning

Sunshine Health also provides benefits for your overall family planning, including providing birth control methods, such as:

  • Oral Contraceptive Pills
  • Intrauterine Device (IUD)
  • Hormonal Implant or Injection

Pregnancy Services

The first step of any pregnancy journey is to see a doctor. It is recommended that you see your doctor within two weeks of finding out you are pregnant. If you need help finding an OB-GYN, we can help. Use our Find a Provider tool  or call Member Services at 1-866-796-0530.

Please let us know you are pregnant by logging in to your secure member portal account and filling out a Notice of Pregnancy form.

Newborn Services

We understand that this can be both an exciting and overwhelming time. You can’t take care of your baby if you don’t also care for yourself. It is recommended that you see your doctor with seven to 30 days after having your baby to make sure you are healing well.

As a Sunshine Health member, you have access to postpartum benefits and services that will support you and your newborn's health. State Medicaid coverage allows women to keep Medicaid for 12 months after giving birth.

First Year of Life Program

It’s important to track your baby’s development and growth throughout their first year of life. That’s why Sunshine Health has a First Year of Life Program that is dedicated to support you and any caregiver(s) your baby may have during their first fifteen months of life.

Postpartum Services

We’re excited to support the health of you and your baby during this milestone first year. As you track your baby’s milestones, make sure you are also tracking your own health.
